Back to the Mask, thanks unvaccinated

Masks are back in a big way!

The Argosy Restaurant has had enough. They posted a No Vax, No Service sign on their front door. Nearly all deaths and hospitalizations in the United States for Covid is from the unvaccinated. Covid deaths are 98% preventable however there is a group that is failing not to kill Americans, the unvaccinated.

Yes, on 7/28/2021 the CDC recommended that masks should be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status if you are in a substantial or high transmission area. We talked about this possibility yesterday on our podcast. These are area marked in Orange and Red

To qualify for Substantial then you have a transmission rate of 50 to 99 per 100K in the last 7 days or percentage of positive tests of 8.0% to 9.9% To qualify for High then you have to have more than 100 transmissions per 100K or greater than 10% positive tests. Over half the country fell into these categories. In North Central Washington, it means masks are back indoors for all people in Chelan and Douglas County.

We knew that it was a race to get people vaccinated before Covid overwhelmed the unvaccinated. Millions of Americans over age 12 did their duty and protected themselves and other by being vaccinated. Since we are dealing with the rules of large numbers, they are seeing some vaccinated people test positive however those are rare cases

To even have a chance of stopping previous versions of Covid-19, it was estimated at 70% vaccination rate. For variants that are more easily spread then we are looking at 80% to 90% levels. Where we are at now

Chelan County vaccinated one dose: 60%

Douglas County vaccinated one does 51%

Grant County vaccinated one dose 44%

Okanogan County Vaccinated one dose 59%

Kittitas County Vaccinated one does 49%

It is worse when you start looking at vaccination rates by zip code. Okanogan shared this one a few weeks ago and it shows some startly failures that individuals are taking in protecting themselves and their community. I recommend asking your local health district for these numbers as the unvaccinated are driving the spread of Covid.

It takes 2 doses of Pfizer to be effective against the Delta variant. Some early data are suggesting that a third dose may provide added protection beyond the effectiveness from two doses.

If you are above the age of 12 and are not vaccinated then get it. It costs nothing.

If you want to travel get vaccinated as Countries can require it

If you are a busy then you can require your staff to be vaccinated.

Is your local hospital protecting their patients then you can look here.

Yes, a people and businesses can ask for proof of vaccination

If you don't have health insurance then you have until August 15th to enroll in a special enrollment.

The days of the nice ask to get a vaccination are over. Millions of Americans that have done their duty to protect themselves and neighbors and to get over this Covid Hill, the unvaccinated will have to step up and change. Either change their vaccination status or change how they interact in society. We don't allow smoking in the grocery stores so it is time to end the unvaccinated shoppers.
