2024 Health Insurance Rate Proposals for Washington State

Here at Suzie Health Solutions, we have reached the start of Open Enrollment #11. The proposed rate changes for 2024.

This is the time of year that Health Insurance Companies submit their rate proposals to the office of the Insurance Commissioner. The public can then submit their thoughts on the plan proposals for public record.

The Office of the Insurance Commissioner had fourteen health insurance filers with an average rate increase of 9.11% that are under review. These are proposed rates so do not be surprised when some of the rates change.

We expect that a number of these insurance companies will have a lower rate increase than proposed. Coordinated Care is a great example with a Profit of $35 million after the reinsurance, claims of under 80%, and only a 7.48% annual Medical costs proposed increase will end up closer to a zero for rate change.

The plans outside the exchange are not eligible for federal or state tax credits so do not be surprised if more people look to inside the Washington Healthplanfinder to lower costs. If you have not used the Healthplanfinder then I recommend working with one of the Enrollment Centers as they can explain coverages and walk you through the enrollment without charging fees.

Once the rates have been approved by the Office of the OIC, they then are approved by the Board of the Healthplanfinder. This confirmation usually occurs in the early Fall prior to Open Enrollment which starts for Healthcare on November 1st. We have already started taking appointments so select your appointment today for a one-on-one enrollment/review.

When Suzie first started transitioning from being a Pharmacy Technician, she wanted to lead helping Medicare Individuals with their plans.  Yes, we assist people with Medicare. We stock materials Medicare Advantage, Supplement and Drug plans so that we can help with questions at our office in Wenatchee for your initial enrollment. Folks also can delay enrollment if they are covered by   plan through work. We can do a lot over the phone however sometimes there is nothing like having a complete enrollment packet in your fingertips. We like to take the time to do it correctly and it is not a problem to answer questions through the year. The best part is ...
